For the past 20 years, Sylvia Martinez has helped young minds maximize their educational and life experiences. In her current role as Vice President of Girls Inc. of Memphis, she works with youth, parents, and community partners with the understanding that it takes collective effort to make, demand, and expect change, both systematically and socially.
In our podcast, she shares her own journey as a proud alumn of Girls Inc. of Carpinteria. What began as an after-school outlet, turned into a lifelong passion for shaping the next generation of female leaders. In addition, she's a Ph.D. candidate at The University of Memphis in the Urban Education Department, hoping to bridge what she's learned in the nonprofit sectors with educational theories to reinvent how nonprofit work is viewed, valued, and regarded.
